5.8. Asana
Overview
Plansom is an AI work platform that helps teams set goals, track execution, and get results with AI agents. Connecting Asana lets your Plansom agents work with your Asana tasks, projects and portfolios. Agents can answer questions about what's due, help you decide what to focus on, keep Asana up to date, and turn your Asana work into Plansom goals and tasks your team can track, all from inside Plansom's AI agent chat.
How It Works
Once Asana is connected and added to an agent, you can ask that agent about your Asana work in plain language, and it answers using your live Asana data. For example, you can ask it to:
- See what's due: "What's due in my Asana Website Launch project over the next two weeks?"
- Decide what to work on: "Based on the due dates, priority and status in my Asana Website Launch project, what should I focus on today and why?"
- Keep Asana up to date: "Create an Asana task 'Prepare launch retrospective' in the Website Launch project, assigned to me," or "Add a comment on the Asana task 'Finalize homepage copy' saying it is now tracked in Plansom."
- Turn Asana work into a plan: "Create a Plansom goal called 'Launch the new website' and add the open tasks from my Asana Website Launch project as Plansom tasks under it, with the same due dates." Plansom is a goals and tasks platform, not just a Q&A chat, so the agent can act on what it finds.

Before the agent creates a goal or task, Plansom shows you a draft and asks you to confirm. Tasks the agent creates live under the goal they move forward, so you can track progress in Work → Goals and see each next step in My day.

What you need
- An Asana account (any plan)
- A Plansom account. Sign up if you don't have one yet.
Each team member connects their own Asana account. The agent acts as that person and works only with what they can already see and do in Asana. Everything the agent changes in Asana appears as made by that person.
Each connection is for one Asana workspace: the one you pick on Asana's authorization screen. Some Asana features, such as portfolios, are only available on certain Asana plans, so the agent can only use them if your Asana plan includes them.
Connect Asana
- Log in to Plansom, or sign up if you do not have an account yet
- Go to Resources → Agents in the left sidebar and open the Connectors tab
- Find Asana and click Connect Asana

- Sign in to Asana if asked, and choose your workspace if you belong to more than one
- Review the permissions and click Allow

If your company uses Asana's app management, your Asana admin may need to allow Plansom before you can connect. If that's the case, Asana asks you to send a request to your admin.
If the connection doesn't go as expected, see Troubleshooting.
After You Connect
Once approved, you are redirected back to Plansom, and Plansom shows an "Asana connected" confirmation message.

In Resources → Agents → Connectors, Asana now shows a switch that is turned on, which means it's connected.

To start using it, add Asana to an agent: create a new agent or open an existing one, go to its Tools tab, click Connect a new tool, and select Asana under Productivity. Add Plansom as a tool too, so the agent can create goals and tasks from your Asana work.

To start chatting with that agent, go to Resources → Agents in the left sidebar, find the agent's card, and click Chat on it. That agent can now use Asana in conversations, as shown above in How It Works.
Troubleshooting
- Asana's authorization screen doesn't appear, or you aren't taken back to Plansom after clicking Allow: try connecting again from Resources → Agents → Connectors.
- Asana says the app is blocked or asks you to request access: your Asana admin has restricted which apps can connect. Ask them to allow Plansom in Asana's app management, then connect again.
- The agent doesn't find a project or task you expect: Plansom only sees the Asana workspace you chose when connecting, and only what your Asana account can access. To use a different workspace, disconnect Asana and connect again, choosing that workspace.
- The agent says Asana isn't connected, but Asana still shows as connected in Plansom: this can happen if Plansom's access was removed in Asana. Disconnect Asana in Resources → Agents → Connectors, then connect it again.
- The agent asks you to connect Asana: your Asana connection was removed. Connect it again as described in Connect Asana.
If the issue persists, contact support.
Disconnect Asana
- Go to Resources → Agents in the left sidebar and open the Connectors tab
- Find Asana and turn off its switch
- Click Disconnect to confirm

Plansom shows an "Asana disconnected" message, and Asana shows Connect Asana again.

Disconnecting immediately stops Plansom from using your Asana account. It does not delete any goals, tasks, or other Plansom records already created, and it doesn't change anything in Asana.
Plansom stays listed in your Asana account until you remove it there, as described below.
Removing Plansom from your Asana account directly
You can also remove Plansom's access from Asana's side:
- In Asana, click your profile picture in the top right and open Settings
- Select Apps in the left menu
- Under Authorized Apps, find Plansom and click Deauthorize

- Click Remove to confirm

This stops Plansom from using your Asana account. Tasks, comments, and other content the agent added to Asana stay in Asana. If Asana still shows as connected in Plansom afterwards, disconnect it there as well, as described in Disconnect Asana.
Privacy
Plansom's use of your Asana data is governed by our Privacy Policy.
