4.6.5. Using instructions to get your results in the right form

Instructions tell AI Execute exactly what to do. Unlike the description, which gives context, instructions are precise commands. The clearer you are, the better the result.

  • Be specific about the task: say exactly what you want done
  • Define the output format: table, list, summary, chart, or draft document
  • Add key details: numbers, length, tone, or style if relevant
  • Reference inputs: point to attached files or connected data if they should be used

Good instructions save you from rework. They mean the output lands in the right shape the first time.
